Application engineering, in our practice, means owning the full delivery — from architecture decision records through production observability — rather than handing finished code over a fence. We work as embedded delivery teams (typically 4–8 engineers, calibrated to the work shape) integrated into the customer's existing rituals, tools, and CI. The engagement starts with a written architecture decision record signed off by both sides, and ends with the customer's engineering team able to operate the system without us if they choose.

Our default stack: TypeScript across the full stack (Next.js or React on front-end, Node.js with NestJS or Express on back-end), Python for data-heavy services (FastAPI, pandas, Polars), Java with Spring Boot where the customer ecosystem requires it. Persistence: PostgreSQL as default, MongoDB for document-shaped data, Redis for caching. Cloud: AWS as default with Sydney (ap-southeast-2) for Australian customers; Azure or GCP where customer constraints require. Observability is non-negotiable from day one — OpenTelemetry instrumentation, structured logging, dashboards in Grafana or Datadog, runbooks for the failure modes we know about.
