Software Built for Agriculture
Our roots are in agricultural technology. We built our first offline-capable data collection platform for rural cooperatives in East Africa — environments where smartphones were rare, connectivity depended on a fuelled cell tower, and accidental app deletions were common. Solving those constraints taught us how to build software that works in the real world, not just in a lab.
Since then, we have built ERP systems for European coffee importers managing 40+ cooperatives across Latin America and Africa, government agriculture programme monitoring dashboards tracking hundreds of thousands of registered farmers, and satellite-based deforestation verification systems for EUDR compliance. Agriculture is not a vertical we added to a portfolio — it is where we started, and it still drives some of our most complex engineering work.
For Australian agribusinesses, we bring this domain depth combined with local project coordination through our Melbourne office and delivery from our engineering centre in Delhi NCR. Whether you are a commodity exporter preparing for EUDR, a state agriculture department digitising field operations, or an agri-fintech startup building lending products for farming communities — we have built software in your problem space before.
What We Have Built
Government Agriculture Programme Monitoring — India
Technology implementation partner for a large-scale state government agriculture programme managed by GDi Partners, a governance consulting firm in New Delhi. The programme spans seed quality enhancement, niche crop cultivation, livestock development, farm mechanisation, and market linkage — with tens of thousands of agricultural units established and hundreds of thousands of registered farmers across multiple districts.
- Monitoring dashboards: Farmer enrolment tracking by district and scheme, unit-establishment progress versus targets, subsidy disbursement status and pipeline monitoring
- Dual-database architecture: PostgreSQL for structured programme data, MongoDB for semi-structured field reports and qualitative notes — because government data is messier than schema designers expect
- API integrations: Connecting data across fragmented government systems where district mappings and scheme structures change mid-cycle
- Role-based views: Different interfaces for field analysts working with raw data versus executives reviewing programme performance
- Tech stack: React/Next.js, Node.js, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Power BI, AWS
EUDR Compliance & ERP — European Coffee Importer
A 9-month Odoo ERP implementation for a mid-sized European coffee importer sourcing from 40+ farmer cooperatives across Latin America and Africa. The engagement automated sales, purchasing, and inventory — then built EUDR compliance directly into the procurement workflow rather than bolting it on as a separate tool.
- Geolocation collection: Offline-capable mobile forms for cooperative field officers to submit GPS-tagged farming plot coordinates, validated via HDOP accuracy filtering
- Satellite verification: Sentinel-2 imagery with NDVI analysis comparing vegetation between the December 31, 2020 baseline and present — risk classifications of green, amber, or red per plot
- Due diligence automation: Document management for land-use records, environmental certifications, and social audit reports with automated expiry tracking
- Results: 94% supplier documentation coverage within 6 months, 60% faster sales cycles, 99.1% inventory accuracy (up from 87%), 70% reduction in manual data entry
- Tech stack: Odoo ERP, Node.js, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Sentinel-2 API, custom EUDR compliance modules
Farmer Data Collection Platform — East Africa
An offline-first Progressive Web App deployed to field assessors collecting sustainability data from 10,000+ smallholder farmers across remote regions. The platform captures farm-level practices, GPS-tagged plot boundaries, yield data, and environmental indicators — all without requiring internet access. Built over 8 months and designed for users who had never used a mobile device before.
- Zero-connectivity operation: Full form submission, GPS capture, and photo attachment without any network connection — apps work for days between sync windows
- Low-literacy design: Visual navigation using family member photos instead of text-based menus, large touch targets, automatic data persistence — zero training required
- OTP-based recovery: Data restored after accidental app deletion via server-generated one-time password verification
- Performance: Sub-two-second load times on entry-level Android devices (1-2 GB RAM), zero data loss across deployments
- Tech stack: React PWA, TypeScript, IndexedDB, Service Workers, Geolocation API, Node.js/Express, PostgreSQL
“They impressively thought about the design to simplify a complex topic so the farmers could use it.”

What We Build for Agriculture
Six capability areas developed through real agricultural engagements — not theoretical offerings, but systems we have built and deployed.
Offline-First Field Apps
Progressive Web Apps that work without internet in remote agricultural environments. IndexedDB storage, GPS capture, background sync, and OTP-based data recovery for field workers with limited connectivity.
Programme Monitoring Dashboards
Real-time analytics for government and donor-funded agriculture programmes. Farmer enrolment tracking, subsidy disbursement monitoring, scheme uptake rates, and district-level performance comparisons.
Supply Chain Traceability
End-to-end traceability from farm plot to final buyer. GPS-tagged sourcing records, cooperative-level aggregation, shipment tracking, and audit trails for regulatory compliance including EUDR.
Satellite & Geospatial Analysis
Sentinel-2 satellite imagery integration for vegetation monitoring and deforestation verification. NDVI time-series analysis, GPS coordinate validation with HDOP filtering, and plot-level risk classification.
ERP for Agri-Commodity Trading
Odoo-based ERP implementations for agricultural importers and exporters. Sales, purchasing, inventory, and warehouse management with compliance automation built into procurement workflows.
Sustainability Reporting
Data pipelines that aggregate field survey data, satellite analysis, and supply chain records into compliance-ready sustainability reports for donors, regulators, and certification bodies.
Agritech for Australian Businesses
Australia is the world's fifth-largest agricultural exporter. As EUDR enforcement approaches — December 30, 2026 for large and medium operators — and as state and federal governments invest in digital agriculture, the demand for purpose-built agricultural technology is accelerating.
EUDR Readiness
Australian commodity exporters supplying the EU need traceability and deforestation verification systems operational before the December 2026 deadline. We have already built this for a European coffee importer.
Remote & Rural Operations
Australian agriculture operates across vast distances with patchy rural connectivity. Our offline-first architecture — proven across East Africa and Latin America — is directly applicable to Australian pastoral and cropping operations.
AU Data Residency
Agricultural data involving farm locations, yields, and supply chain records stays in Australian cloud regions. We deploy to AWS Sydney (ap-southeast-2) by default for Australian clients.
Agritech Development — FAQ
What kind of agricultural software does Brainstack build?
We build field data collection platforms (offline-first PWAs for farmer surveys and GPS-tagged plot data), government programme monitoring dashboards (farmer enrolment tracking, subsidy disbursement, scheme uptake analytics), ERP systems for agricultural commodity traders (Odoo-based sales, purchasing, inventory, and EUDR compliance automation), supply chain traceability systems linking farm plots to satellite-verified deforestation status, and sustainability reporting platforms that aggregate field survey data into compliance-ready reports.
Can your agricultural apps work offline in remote areas?
Yes — offline-first architecture is our default for any application used in the field. Data is stored locally in IndexedDB, GPS coordinates are captured without connectivity, and records sync automatically when a stable connection is detected. We have deployed offline-first platforms to 10,000+ smallholder farmers in regions where connectivity depends on intermittently fuelled cell towers. The apps work fully without internet for days at a time.
How do you handle EUDR compliance for agricultural importers?
We build EUDR compliance directly into ERP and supply chain systems rather than treating it as a separate tool. Our approach covers four areas: geolocation data collection from farming plots via offline-capable mobile forms, satellite-based deforestation verification using Sentinel-2 imagery and NDVI analysis against the December 31 2020 baseline, due diligence document management with automated expiry tracking, and procurement workflow integration that flags non-compliant shipments before purchase orders are confirmed.
Do you work with government agriculture programmes?
Yes. We are the technology implementation partner for a large-scale state government agriculture programme in India managed by GDi Partners. This engagement covers monitoring dashboards tracking farmer enrolment across multiple districts, subsidy disbursement pipelines, and scheme-level uptake analytics. The programme spans seed quality enhancement, livestock development, farm mechanisation, and market linkage — with hundreds of thousands of registered farmers across the system.
What satellite imagery and geospatial capabilities do you offer?
We integrate Sentinel-2 satellite imagery for vegetation monitoring using NDVI (Normalised Difference Vegetation Index) time-series analysis. This is primarily used for deforestation verification under EUDR — comparing vegetation status between a regulatory baseline date and the present. We also capture and validate GPS coordinates from field devices with HDOP accuracy filtering, and link plot-level geolocation data to satellite analysis for farm-level traceability.
How long does an agricultural technology project take?
It depends on scope. A focused offline-first data collection app takes 3 to 5 months from requirements to production deployment. A full ERP implementation with supply chain traceability and EUDR compliance took 9 months across four phased cycles. Government programme monitoring dashboards with API integrations across multiple data sources are ongoing engagements. We scope based on your specific programme requirements rather than quoting generically.
