QA Consulting Services
Two-week diagnostic, written 30-60-90 plan, costed and prioritised by impact. ISTQB- and TMMi-aligned test advisory for teams shipping software at scale.

QA consultancy work, in our experience, is rarely about adding tests. It's about diagnosing why an existing testing investment isn't paying back: brittle suites the team can't trust, no risk-based selection so suites are too slow to run, no observability so flakiness goes unaddressed, no contract layer so integration breaks ship to production despite best efforts.
Every engagement starts with a two-week diagnostic: review of the existing test suite's pass/fail history, analysis of CI run times, audit of the test pyramid shape, and interviews with developers about which tests they actually trust. The output is a written report with a 30-60-90-day plan — not a deck. Specific findings, specific recommendations, costed and prioritised by impact and effort.
Our diagnostic uses an ISTQB-aligned scoring rubric mapped to TMMi Levels 1–5, focused on the five capability areas that actually predict release-defect rate: test design (risk-based vs feature-based), automation pyramid shape, observability of test signal, contract-test coverage on integration boundaries, and defect-feedback latency from production to backlog. The output is a written 30-60-90-day plan, not a deck.
Common patterns we end up implementing during the 30-60-90 plan: introducing contract testing (Pact) where there was none, migrating UI tests from legacy frameworks to Playwright, setting up Allure or ReportPortal for trend analysis, instrumenting test results into the same observability stack as production (Grafana, Datadog). Where customers use Jira we can wire Xray or Zephyr so product owners see the same quality view the QA team sees.

Diagnostic Framework
| Capability Area | What We Measure | What Gets Shipped |
|---|---|---|
| Test design | Ratio of risk-based vs feature-mirror tests; coverage of negative paths; mutation-test kill rate. | A risk-weighted test-portfolio map. |
| Automation pyramid | Suite count by tier; E2E flake rate; MTTR for broken E2E. | A pyramid-rebalance plan with a deletion list. |
| Observability of test signal | CI duration trend; cost per run; Allure/ReportPortal/Datadog dashboards; flake taxonomy. | A test-telemetry stack proposal. |
| Contract-test coverage | Pact / Spring Cloud Contract / Postman coverage at every service boundary. | Consumer-driven contract rollout for top three breakpoints. |
| Defect feedback latency | Production defect → reproducible test → fix → regression coverage. | A defect-to-regression playbook with SLA targets. |
Tools by Capability
| Capability | Default Tools | When We Recommend an Alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Unit + mutation | Jest / Vitest / JUnit5 / Pytest + Stryker / Pitest | Replace mutation tooling with PIT for JVM-only shops. |
| Component & E2E | Playwright (TypeScript), Cypress for React-heavy SPAs | Selenium 4 grid for legacy enterprise estates. |
| Contract tests | Pact (consumer-driven) | Spring Cloud Contract when both sides are JVM Spring. |
| Performance | k6 (default), JMeter for tester-led shops, Gatling for Scala teams | Locust for pure-Python teams; AWS Distributed Load Testing for cost control. |
| Reporting & analytics | Allure + ReportPortal feeding Grafana | Datadog Test Visibility when CI already in Datadog. |
| Test-mgmt integration | Jira + Xray (default), Zephyr Scale for Atlassian-Marketplace shops | Tricentis qTest for enterprise governance. |

How QA Consulting transforms your testing approach
QA Consulting isn't just about fixing problems; it's about transforming your entire approach to quality. Here's how we do it for businesses.
- A Holistic View of Quality: We'll analyse your complete software development cycle, from requirements gathering to deployment, identifying areas where quality takes a hit.
- Tailored Solutions: No two companies are the same. We'll work closely with you to understand your unique challenges so that we can develop a customised QA strategy that aligns with your business goals and complements your in-house team's strengths.
- Empower Your Team: We don't just tell you what to do; we empower your team with the knowledge and skills they need to own quality. We'll provide training, mentorship, and ongoing support to ensure your team is equipped for success long after our engagement ends.
- Data-Driven Decisions: We'll help you establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and track progress toward your quality goals. This data-driven approach ensures you always make informed decisions about your testing strategy.
- Continuous Improvement: Quality is a journey, not a destination. We'll help you establish a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring your testing process evolves with your business and adapts to new challenges.

How do you know if our QA Consulting is delivering results?
- Better Product Quality: Are you seeing fewer bugs and happier customers?
- Better Team Efficiency: Is your QA team more productive and effective?
- Reduced Costs: Are you getting more value for your investment?
- Faster Time to Market: Are you releasing products faster without compromising quality?
- Improved Customer Satisfaction: Are your customers raving about the quality of your software?
Frequently Asked Questions
What is QA consulting?
Independent advisory on whether your testing investment is paying back. Output is a written 30-60-90 plan.
What does the two-week diagnostic deliver?
Written report covering test-design, automation pyramid, observability, contract coverage, defect-feedback latency, plus prioritised 30-60-90 plan.
Do you replace our existing QA team?
No. We complement and upskill — most engagements end with the existing team owning the new playbook.
Which maturity frameworks do you use?
ISTQB for vocabulary, TMMi Levels 1–5 for the maturity map, ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119 for test-process reference.
What tools do you bring in by default?
Playwright / k6 / Pact / Allure + ReportPortal / Grafana. We adapt to your existing CI.
What does this cost?
Two-week written diagnostic: AUD 18k–24k flat. Implementation engagements quoted from the diagnostic outcome.
Want a written diagnostic of where your QA investment is paying back — and where it isn't?
Two ways in: book a 30-minute discovery call (better for CXOs scoping a project) or request a written test-strategy review of your current setup (better for CTOs and engineering leads who want a second opinion). Both are no-obligation. The two-week diagnostic begins after sign-off.
How We Test Industry-Specific Workflows
Tailored QA for offline, compliance, and data-heavy products across Australia/APAC and regulated regions.
