Building Dashboards, Data Integrations, & Consulting Tools for GDi Partners

GDi Partners — a governance consulting firm that designs and implements large-scale development programmes with Indian state governments and international organisations — brought Brainstack Technologies on as their technology implementation partner for work related to a large-scale government agriculture programme.
The programme is a flagship state government initiative spanning multiple interlinked projects across agriculture, horticulture, and livestock sectors. It aims to transition the state's agricultural economy from subsistence-driven practices to sustainable, income-generating livelihoods and has already established tens of thousands of agricultural units.
GDi Partners serves as a consulting partner supporting programme design, implementation strategy, and outcome monitoring. Brainstack's role is to build the technology layers that GDi needs to deliver on that mandate: monitoring dashboards that track farmer enrolment, scheme uptake, and disbursement progress; custom web applications supporting specific consulting workstreams; API integrations connecting data across government systems; and internal tooling for GDi's own project management and reporting operations.

The Context: Why a Programme This Size Needs Technology Partners
The programme is not a single scheme — it is a system of interlinked projects spanning seed quality enhancement, niche crop cultivation, livestock development, farm mechanisation, and market linkage development. The programme operates across all districts and involves multiple state government departments, financial institutions, and thousands of beneficiaries.
At this scale, the consulting challenge is fundamentally a data challenge. GDi Partners needs to track which schemes are reaching which farmers, whether enrolled beneficiaries are receiving disbursements, which districts are ahead or behind on unit-establishment targets, and whether established units are operationally functional, not just sanctioned on paper.
The state government's own digital ecosystem includes multiple portals for farmer registration and an output tracking application monitoring tens of thousands of established units. These platforms generate data at scale, and GDi's consulting mandate requires aggregating, cross-referencing, and analysing this data to identify bottlenecks and produce actionable recommendations for decision-makers.

What Brainstack Built
Brainstack Technologies builds and maintains the technology tooling that GDi Partners uses to deliver its consulting mandate on the programme. This work spans four streams.
Monitoring Dashboard
The primary deliverable is a monitoring dashboard that gives GDi's consulting team and government counterparts a real-time view of programme progress across key dimensions: farmer enrolment by district and scheme, unit-establishment progress versus targets, subsidy disbursement status and pipeline, and scheme-level uptake rates.
Custom Web Applications
Beyond the core dashboard, Brainstack has built custom web applications supporting specific consulting workstreams, including structured data collection interfaces for field visits, workflow tools for review and approval tracking, and reporting templates that generate formatted outputs for government stakeholders.
API Integrations
A significant part of the engineering work connects data across systems: programme records, financial disbursement data, and field-level outcome data often live in separate systems with different formats and access methods. Brainstack builds and maintains the integration layer that aggregates these sources into a coherent model for monitoring and analysis.
Internal Tooling
GDi Partners, with 75+ professionals working across multiple programmes, also needs internal systems for project management, resource allocation, and operational reporting. Brainstack supports these internal technology needs alongside programme-specific tooling.

Technology Stack
Application Layer
- Frontend: React/Next.js with role-based views for analysts and programme managers
- Backend: Node.js API layer handling aggregation, authentication, and business logic
- Analytics: Power BI for specific reporting requirements, alongside custom dashboard visualizations
Data & Infrastructure
- PostgreSQL for structured programme data (schemes, districts, beneficiaries, targets, disbursements)
- MongoDB for semi-structured data (field reports, qualitative notes, document metadata)
- AWS for cloud hosting, storage, and compute
- Dual-database architecture to match structured and semi-structured government programme data characteristics
Why This Engagement Matters for Brainstack
This engagement represents exactly the kind of work Brainstack is built for: serving as the technology partner for mission-driven organisations operating at the intersection of governance, data, and development impact.
GDi Partners has the consulting expertise, government relationships, and programme design capability. Brainstack's role is to translate consulting requirements into production-grade dashboards, integrations, and tools that can evolve with programme realities.
This programme context also mirrors Brainstack's broader agriculture technology strengths: distributed beneficiaries, multi-source fragmented data, and the need for real-time operational visibility to drive policy and programme execution decisions.
Key Engineering Observations
- Government programme data is messier than it appears. Scheme structures change mid-cycle, district mappings vary by system, and beneficiary records can diverge between enrolment and disbursement systems. Dashboard value comes from surfacing these inconsistencies early.
- Different stakeholders need fundamentally different interfaces. Deep-dive analyst workflows and executive review views cannot be solved by simple filtering on one dashboard layout.
- Integration is a continuous capability, not a one-time project. New data sources and revised reporting needs require an extensible API and data model architecture.
